UI design and UX design are two of the most often confused terms in app and web designs. They are usually lumped together under one term, UI/UX design course, and on the surface they describe the same thing. It is often difficult to find concrete descriptions of the two that do not descend too far into jargon. But fear not!
Despite the fact that the phrases refer to two different user characteristics, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) are often used synonymously. User interface clearly refers to how the user interacts with the product, as opposed to user experience, which describes the customer’s total experience with the product.
Any product, whether it’s a website, mobile app, or physical product, needs to provide a positive customer experience. Plus, a positive user experience depends on a solid user interface. However, what exactly do these two phrases mean and how do they differ?
A user’s total experience with a product is known as user experience (UX). It includes every aspect of a user’s interaction with a product, from their first touch with it to how they end up using it. From a customer’s initial reactions to a product to their continued use, the user experience is all-encompassing.
The specific interface used by the user to interact with the product is known as User Interface. The user interface, which is the component of the product with which the consumer directly interacts, is the “face” of the product. All elements with which the user interacts, such as buttons, menus, and icons, are included in the user interface.
